SAKURAN

Directed by Mika Ninagawa, starring Anna Tsuchiya

"A colourful, courageous film, echoing in the heart like a slap. "You make your
own life flower" Swayed by passion, choosing love,: a young woman set
on living life her way".

Sakuran is my absolute favourite film of all time. It is bursting with colour and is visually exciting.
The film in terms of cinematography, you could say, is a Japanese version of Marie Anne Toinette starring Kirsten Dunst. Though Marie Anne Toinette felt as if it was made only for the
dispay of costumes as it lacked a certain something in the story and the characters. Sakuran on the otherhand is not only visually stimulating but the story is truely fascinating. I definately recommend you see this film if you are a lover of art and culture.
