SAKURAN

Directed by Mika Ninagawa, starring Anna Tsuchiya

"A colourful, courageous film, echoing in the heart like a slap. "You make your
own life flower" Swayed by passion, choosing love,: a young woman set
on living life her way".

Sakuran is my absolute favourite film of all time. It is bursting with colour and is visually exciting.
The film in terms of cinematography, you could say, is a Japanese version of Marie Anne Toinette starring Kirsten Dunst. Though Marie Anne Toinette felt as if it was made only for the
dispay of costumes as it lacked a certain something in the story and the characters. Sakuran on the otherhand is not only visually stimulating but the story is truely fascinating. I definately recommend you see this film if you are a lover of art and culture.

Wargo-nippon

When I was living in Tokyo there was a small jewellery and kanzashi store that I was totally in love with!

It was near where I was living and on the way to the train station so I used to look in it nearly evey time I walked by.

The store is called WARGO-NIPPON (http://www.wargo.jp/shop/?Command=Brandlist&psid=1) and all their jewellery and accessories are handmade and have a Japanese feel to them.
The whole year I was in Tokyo I had to prevent myself from purchasing anything as I new it would turn into an addiction, but during my last week I let myself go in and by a couple of things.

While I was there I was saving for a tattoo and I had wanted a Japanese sleeve with a carp swimming through hokusai waves but in the end it was just going to be too expensive. So for my birthday, the beautiful girls I was living with bought me this pendant.
I *HEART* WARGO

Shoes with Stories

"The Hetty Rose label makes shoes.
The collection is based on a theory of re-using and re-working vintage materials in a creative and sustainable way, hand making gorgeous, feminine shoes to fit.
These materials are primarily vintage Japanese kimono fabrics: relics of a disappearing world, saturated in significance and hidden meanings.
The colours and folds signify various seasons, occasion, status and personal taste of the wearer.
The designer hand selects the most exquisite antique fabrics to use as uppers for shoes to create unique handmade footwear.
The designs are simple, yet provocative, designed to make the foot appear more attractive. The collaboration of colours, materials, service and directional design result in unique, wearable footwear."
